Art Galleries on Cape Cod

Provincetown on Cape Cod is one of the best towns for art lovers. The incredible light and colorful surroundings have attracted artists to Provincetown for decades.  Many artists including Charles Webster Hawthorne, E. Ambrose Webster, and Henry Hensche called Provincetown their home.  We even have an artist in the extended Fini family, Rosalie Nadeau, with paintings hanging in Provincetown!

The Lower & Outer Cape have great towns with many galleries to browse. Some of our favorite areas to stroll and admire art are the East End of Commercial Street in Provincetown, Main Street in Chatham and Commercial Street in Wellfleet. Here are a few of our favorite spots:

  • Tree’s Place Gallery – Orleans – Browse artwork of many well know artists such as Robert Douglas Hunter.
  • Left Bank Gallery – Orleans & Wellfleet – We love the really unique pottery on display.
  • Frying Pan Gallery – Wellfleet – Artist, Steve Swain’s, Signature Steel Fish can be found here… a Cape favorite!
  • PAAM – Provincetown – PAAM presents an ever-changing lineup of exhibitions, lectures, workshops and cultural events.
  • The Packard Gallery – Provincetown – A family affair! The Packard Gallery represents 2 generations of artists: Anne Packard, Cynthia Packard and Leslie Packard.
  • Kiley Court Gallery– Provincetown – We love to pop in this gallery anytime we’re in Provincetown. We absolutely love the color that Robert Cardinal uses in all of his paintings.
  • Creative Arts Center – Chatham – A wonderful place to go, especially to take workshops on everything from painting to jewelry making.

The Creative Arts Center has classes and workshop, as well as festivals and art demonstrations. Local libraries also host artist demonstrations as well.  If there is an artist that you are fond of, check their website for  demonstrations or workshops that you can sign up for as well as a list of the galleries where their art is on display.
